Set amid the Harlem race riots, Wine in the Wilderness exposes the pretentiousness of blacks toward one another. Tomorrow Marie is the ignorant ghetto queen Bill needs to paint to complete his ideal of the African woman for his triptych. He attempts to capture her negative essence on canvass, but Tomorrow Marie deconstructs his bourgeois perceptions of black women in a mind-blowing revolutionary dialogue about race and women that change his vision of the work.
