Urinetown: The Musical

Urinetown: The Musical

Greenman Theatre
232 S. York Elmhurst

The show, written by Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis, parodies specific musicals and musical styles with its satire of big business, social irresponsibility, populism, and government bureaucracy. In the midst of a terrible water shortage, caused by an historic drought, private toilets have been banned. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Before all hope drains away, a hero must arise to save The People! This highly entertaining show won three Tonys, including for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical.
