The Yellow Wallpaper

The Yellow Wallpaper

Chopin Theatre
1543 W. Division Chicago

Confined to her room as part of a "rest cure" for her postpartum depression, a woman descends into madness in this modernized adaptation of the classic feminist gothic story The Yellow Wallpaper. This Mill Theatre production brings an experimental, movement-based style to bear in capturing the protagonist's fragile mental state, combining classic storytelling with visual spectacle. Set in a time when men had complete control over women's mental and physical health, this nightmarish story remains as timely as ever.
