The Realization of Emily Linder Reviews
Chicago Reader- Highly Recommended
"...Richard Strand's script, here directed for Redtwist Theatre by Hans Fleischmann, treats the agonies of family life with a healthy dose of irony, striking a wonderful balance between sober realism and delicious, whimsical lightness. Ruhl’s comedic timing is delightful, as is her winking, pitch-perfect delivery."

"...Life, suggests Richard Strand's play "The Realization of Emil Linder," is like a stack of DVDs. What's in it for you depends on how you look at it. That warm and fuzzy proposition, couched within dark comedy, makes for an amusing if fairly bizarre night out at Redtwist Theatre."

"...Emily is a compelling, quirky and sarcastic lady and we desire to get to know more about what lies beneath all these layers. All of the characters are people we can relate with and do a great job! The second half of the show allows us to delve deeper into the characters while taking a few wild turns that will take you down a road to remember."

"...The redeeming factor for this play is the one part I can’t talk about. The ending. Finally stripped of all of the family drama, Emily and her in-home nurse truthfully deal with what’s actually going on in Emily’s mind. The play simplifies and Fleischmann and Ruhl shine. It’s honest and beautiful and doesn’t last nearly long enough. I’m not sure the rest of the production is as solid as it could be, but they are certainly able to bring the show home."
