The Importance of Being Earnest is a delightful comedy of mistaken identity. The play ridicules propriety and etiquette in Victorian society's strict moral code. Men-about-town Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff pursue Gwendolen Fairfax and Cecily Cardew. Matters are complicated by the imaginary characters invented by both men to cover their secret philandering - not to mention the disapproval of Gwendolen's mother, the formidable Lady Bracknell. Earnest is Oscar Wilde at his wittiest.
