"...Yurek’s Dick Dudgeon provides the dramatic fulcrum of Scogin’s production. His performance brilliantly conveys the ferocious charisma and torment of a hero who finds himself in a context unfit for heroes. Dudgeon seems to be in motion even when he’s just thinking, constantly aware that the ground could open up under him. Penn as the mostly unctuous Reverend and Tony Dobrowolski as the sympathetic but limited General Burgoyne provide apt foils. Some of the supporting cast tips too often into mere cartoons, and rudimentary design gives off an unwelcome community-theater vibe.."
