The Bacchae

Josephine Louis Theater - Northwestern
20 Arts Circle Drive Evanston

The Bacchae is considered one of the greatest Greek tragedies ever written. It tells the story of the clash between Dionysus, the god of wine, and his brash, mortal cousin, Pentheus, the young king of Thebes who refused to acknowledge Dionysusí divinity. Eventually, Pentheus struggles in vain to regain control of his city from the vengeful Dionysus.
