This week's Talk Theatre podcast features Christina Calvit and Marilyn Campbell, who talk with Anne Nicholson Weber about the hows and whys of adapting novels for the stage: how to choose the aspects of the novel that will be staged, how to reduce the text to its essentials, how to stage narration, and, most importantly, why do it in the first place. Christina Calvit's adaptation of Mariette in Ecstacy recently opened at Lifeline Theatre, and Marilyn Campbell's adaptation of Crime and Punishment, which was developed at Writers' Theatre, is now being produced around the world.
