Last month, the League of Chicago Theatre's hosted an event at Chicago Dramatists centered on a new book called Outrageous Fortune: The Life and Times of the New American Play, which was recently published by Theatre Devleopment Fund. Outrageous Fortune is a study of the lives of America playwrights, the relationship between playwrights and non-profit producers, and the process by which new plays get produced. The book has caused something of a stir in theatrical circles.

Theatre in Chicago was at Chicago Dramatists that day, and we recorded the opening presentation by Victoria Bailey, Executive Director of Theatre Development Fund, and Todd London, one of the book's authors, which summarizes the findings of the book.
