The New York Times called SubUrbia "Chekhov high on speed and Twinkies." This critically acclaimed, brutally honest drama takes a hard look at a group of disaffected young 20-somethings who hang out in the parking lot of a suburban convenience store, talking big but not much more. When their former high-school buddy, now a rock star, returns, they're forced to confront their failed dreams and aimless existence. Penned by award-winning actor-writer Eric Bogosian (Talk Radio, Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll), SubUrbia premiered on Broadway with stars Martha Plimpton, Josh Hamilton and Steve Zahn, the latter of whom went on to star in Richard Linklater's 1997 film adaptation.
