Known as "the company of firsts," Joffrey Ballet was the first dance company to perform at the White House, the first to appear on television, the first to appear on the cover of Time magazine and the first to have a major motion picture based on them (Robert Altman's The Company). Experience this must-see dance company's innovative dance work live as they present Stories in Motion, a trio of works from three exciting contemporary choreographers. Works include Balanchine's Prodigal Son, based on the biblical tale of sin and redemption from one of the greatest choreographers of all time. Antony Tudor's masterpiece Lilac Garden explores the conflicting emotions of a young woman who's trapped by the strictures of Edwardian culture and forced to give up the young man she loves. Stories in Motion also features the Joffrey premiere of RAkU, in which Ukranian-born choreographer Yuri Possokhov uses the burning of the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto as the point of departure for a story of love, treachery, separation and tragedy.
