Saintly Cherub

Saintly Cherub

Annoyance Theatre
851 W. Belmont Chicago

n a city filled with "long form" and "short form" improv, "Saintly Cherubs" breaks the pattern with what they call "The Coloring Book" form. The audience walks into a room filled with childlike melodies, and performers coloring with crayons on large paper pads. The drawings get passed around, performer to performer, and become the inspiration for the improv that follows. Tim Lamphier says, "by passing the pad to one another the art gains a new perspective. We continue thus until we've created 4 different works of art that aren't entirely one person's vision. The abstract drawings enable our imaginations to continuously transform the piece...and we improvise based on our observations."
