The Inside

The Inside

The Greenhouse Theater Center
2257 N Lincoln Avenue Chicago

Emma, a black college student who's currently attending a party populated by her white peers, has come to a crisis. With a mixture of entertaining irony and heart-wrenching vulnerability, Emma proceeds to pour forth her interior life with unchecked honesty, breaking the fourth wall to directly address the audience in a show that blurs the line between traditional narrative storytelling and performance art. Throughout The Inside, Emma will be aided by a chorus of actors who represent extensions of herself, voices from her past and even her fantasies, as this thought-provoking theatrical prism delivers a piercing examination of race, art, academia and sexuality.
