"...This effort from Rum and Coke Collective plays around with a similar concept-minus the hidden corpse. The show revolves around a closeted gay man who kills his wife but is witnessed in the act by his lover. What follows is a hot mess of graphic violence, gratuitous Blackhawks references, and musings on topics ranging from gay marriage to the death of print journalism. By the end of Rope, Jimmy Stewart has discovered the body. By the end of The Best Intentions, we've yet to uncover much of anything."

"...Jeff Newman’s script is sharp, biting, and full of puns that become a self-referential plot point . Brent, an aspiring artist (played by Alex Goodman), introduces himself to Taylor, the businessman (Jovan King, in what can only be described as a tour-de-force role), at a small coffee shop. One moment the scene is a slow-paced, ill-fated pick-up attempt, the next moment it is revealed that Brent witnessed Taylor murdering his wife and subsequently burying the body in the backyard. Nobody saw that coming. The plot takes a lot of unexpected turns and each one is rewarding in a disturbingly humorous way. Twist after twist ensures that once you think you know where things are headed, it veers off in a completely different direction that is equally satisfying, and even more disturbing."

Chicago Stage and Screen - Somewhat Recommended

"...Sam Albertson as Jason, Alex Goodman as Brent and Jovan King as Taylor are all terrific actors and make the best of their roles. However, they all would have also benefited from a strong directorial hand. The actors were left to wander too much of the time, physically and emotionally. The Alley Stage provides a very unique playing space and they did use the small stage as best they could."
