Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical Review Round-Up
Chicago Stage Standard - Recommended
"... Mo Willems' "Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical" comes to life through The Emerald City Theatre at The Apollo Theater through January 16, 2013. Based on a children's stories where the pictures play the lead role, Mr. Williams ignites the pages with excitement and challenges that we face daily. Who do we trust? Will you really do what you said you would do? Will you do the right thing? Is everything going to be ok??"
Chicago Theatre Review - Highly Recommended
"... Director/choreographer Job Christianson has filled the stage with humorous business while moving the story along with energetic and well-executed choreography. Her five-member cast are all first-rate singers and dancers, with Bret Beaudry standing out as a thoroughly believable young father to Jamie Finkenthalís adorably realistic Trixie. Those familiar with Willemsí illustrations will recognize the authentic details in Robert Kuhnís gray and black brick set design and animated projections. Nathan R. Rhorerís costumes also echo that attention to the author/illustratorís art work throughout the production. And with a special appearance by the Pigeon who wants to drive the bus (another of WillemsĎ childrenís book creations), this 60 minute musical is the perfect Fall entertainment, sure to be a hit with the early elementary-aged theatre goer."
