"...Depending on your point of view, you might see "My First Time" as a revelation of an oft-ignored shared human moment or merely an intrusive excuse to sell tickets through titillation, although, in fairness, the tone is reasonably high-minded and the content is strictly verbal. Either way, you have to hand it to the all-new Broken Nose Theatre, which managed to snag the rights to the Chicago premiere of a late-night (naturally) show that had a very profitable commercial run in New York and seems likely to do quite nicely here, if only because ticket buyers on a date reckon that all this talk of sex and intimacy will improve the later part of the evening."

"...The problem may be that it goes for quantity rather than quality, trundling over too many climaxes (pun required). Why look at the aggregate of sexual experience when one well-told or -acted experience would do? Versatile Leslie Ruettiger and the rest of the cast help keep the snippets vivid and well-paced (it's probably a necessary evil that they're all conventionally attractive, even if the writers can't all have been). But they're unable to, um, keep it up. One statistical truism left unaddressed in the play becomes relevant after the hour mark: size does matter—only, in this case, shorter would've been better. A different local storyteller opens each show."

"...In new company Broken Nose Theatre’s late-night debut, director Benjamin Brownson’s staging is minimalist: actors Jennifer Grubb, Michael Allen Harris, Leslie Ruettiger and Adam Soule sit on a setless stage and tell stories. That’s it. But the tonal variety and the show’s well-established arc keeps the subject matter buoyant; the characters share tales of loving unions, nonexistent minglings and horrific, abusive poundings. Each story adds something new to the mix. Additionally, the audience is incorporated through non-invasive surveys about their experiences. Each show also features local storytellers detailing their first time. All performers successfully focus on these stories’ common ground: the very human need for contact."

"...MY FIRST TIME is late night fun! Either as a group outing or even a date night, MY FIRST TIME stimulates fornication conversation. It will seduce you into *(over) sharing all* with your theatre companion(s)... so choose your play date wisely."
