Space Future at Annoyance Theatre

"...The title "Space Future" evoked in me memories of 1980's "Flash Gordon," a movie so cheesy even the fabulously thumping Queen soundtrack couldn't save it. I saw that one too many times to admit, and I was probably hoping for something like it when I walked into the Annoyance Theatre. Alas, Dunbar Dicks' musical comedy about space and the future is neither a recognizable spoof nor a fully functioning original idea for a show."

"...Created by Dunbar Dicks, Forest Hynes, and Brian Penkrot, the show lacks sufficient bombast to outshine its unconsciously campy progenitor, and Hynes's rather aimless direction doesn't do enough to cover up the flat spots in the script. But there are some endearing performances--especially Lyndsay Hailey as Luna, a plucky rebel slave, and Dicks as Prince Juniper, a reluctant hero and self-absorbed man-boy, who provides an answer to the burning question: 'What would a guy from a Judd Apatow movie look like in a silver lame jumpsuit?' "
