In the original, the big twist is that Jekyll and Hyde are one and the same; that’s no surprise to modern audiences. That the two are played by separate actors (Seegebrecht and Plocharczyk, respectively) makes for some fun staging by McCabe, and the final scene, a confession that’s played by the two as one, is an absolute wonder of team acting, but Jekyll and Hyde remain minor characters in their own story."
