Llama Llama

On October 5th, Emerald City Theatre will kick off its 2013-2014 season at the Apollo Theater with the world premiere of Llama Llama..., adapted and directed by Ernie Nolan. Nolan, who is Emerald City's Producing Artistic Director, has combined four of Anna Dewdney's beloved Llama Llama... books into one show that follows young Llama through an entire day-and all of the challenges that come with it.

Nolan's Llama Llama... script comes on the heels of his work being highlighted at The Kennedy Center, a commission at the La Jolla Playhouse, and a commission from the Milwaukee Zoological Society.

"In order to remain faithful to the Llama Llama... books my entire adaptation rhymes," says Nolan, "We've also been inspired by the whimsical and colorful illustrations of Anna Dewdney's vibrant and playful characters. We've made sure to keep that in the design, especially the incredible puppets created by Ken Sprouls."

Nolan chose this story about saying how you feel especially for Emerald City's young audience. "Whether overcoming the first day of school jitters or learning patience or discovering how to share, Llama really is the exact kind of early learner that we know is in the audience at Emerald City."

Synopsis:
Spend a whole day with Llama Llama and Mama Llama as they encounter the daily fun and foibles of Llama life. Help them get through school stress, grocery store grievances, and bedtime big business. This stage premiere of Anna Dewdney's rhyming Llamas is sure to bring a smile to children and adults alike.

Llama Llama... is best suited for children ages 3-6.
