Fugue Reviews
Chicago Reader- Somewhat Recommended
"...Each playlet depicts a couple at a crossroads (breakup, breakdown, hookup); the couples take turns telling their stories as the others continue theirs in slow-motion mime (one actor inadvertently convinced me he'd never before opened a bottle of water). As a pensive assassin eating pizza in a dead man's hotel room, Dan Jackson wrings bleak humor from the "fugue" format, plucking salient scraps of dialogue from earlier scenes. But all the aimless, prolonged stop-and-go only helps the crises miss their climaxes."
Chicago Stage and Screen- Highly Recommended
"...It's very well acted, especially considering Theatre Momentum's raison d'etre: improv theatre. How much was improvised was hard to say, as it was so well done; it's clear that the basic outlines for the plays were well-prepared in advance, but the movement was certainly improvised, as well as the actual dialogue. I won't go too much into the stories, as I'd expect each night to differ, but the subject matter was incredibly deep much of the time-drug addiction, divorce, embezzling money from a dying business, cold feet on a wedding day... Of course, that's not to say it wasn't funny; most plays had a good amount of comic relief, and it felt well balanced."
