"...Crowle's leading asset, though, is the real-life Broadway couple of Clyde Alves and Robyn Hurder, doubtless attracted to take the Oakbrook Terrace gig by the chance to work together in leading roles. They're both genuine triple-threats and it's positively beguiling to watch them dance together. Hurder is just terrific, not least because (with the help of the costume designer Caitlin McLeod) she really looks like a woman of the Old West, tough as Annie Oakley but also vulnerable when it comes to affairs of the heart. You would not call "Crazy for You" a feminist musical, but especially in this production it is a show with an unusually assertive female lead who pretty much bends a variety of pliable, less-intelligent dudes to her own satisfaction and desire. You just want to spend more time in Hurder's company and yet you also feel like Alves' needy Bobby Child is her Polly Baker's ideal guy. Often in musicals in Chicago, you get one of other of those prerequisites. These leads give you both."

"...And it’s all played out in one fabulous number after another (starting with “K-ra-zy for You” and “I Can’t Be Bothered Now” and moving on to “Embraceable You,” “Nice Work If You Can Get It” and a knockout version of “I Got Rhythm”), with Alves, a fabulously elastic dancer, tapping up a storm, sliding down a stairway in a two-way split and sharing a hilarious mirror image sequence with the lush-voiced Adams, who also is in top form."

"...But overall Drury Lane's "Crazy for You" is a sheer escapist delight. With so many remarkable performances of heavenly Gershwin tunes, don't be surprised if you find yourself quoting the lyrics: "Who could ask for anything more?""

"...The music is great, and it gives the cast many opportunities for extended dance sequences (nicely choreographed in this revival by Matt Crowle, who also directs), but Ken Ludwig's book lets us down at every turn, numbing us with ancient jokes, stock characters, and formulaic plot twists. The show is peppered with strong performances-Clyde Alves is a lot of fun as the main character, a poor little rich boy determined to be a Broadway star-but one leaves the show wishing for the real thing."

"...Crazy for You is a modern take on the classical Broadway format that weaves many of the greatest songs of the 2oth Century by the Gershwin’s with outrageous humor, excellent singing and spectacular tap dancing. Crowle’s ensemble worked hard in respecting the material. Crazy for You is a ‘must see’ musical. The sheer joy of this family friendly entertainment will have you saying: “Who could ask for anything more?” This production of Crazy for You reminds me why I love musicals. Crazy For You demonstrates the magic of Gershwin tunes as well the joys of old fashion musical comedy. It is extremely family entertainment for the holidays."

"...When someone hears the name George Gershwin, they think Big Musical. When someone thinks about some of the greatest music in "The Great American Songbook", they think George Gershwin. It is also easy to add Ira Gershwin (his brother) to the mix, as they were amazing talents with great musical abilities. A fun-filled musical, now on the Drury Lane Oakbrook stage, "Crazy For You" allows the audience to hear some of the very best of their work and under the direction and choreography of Matt Crowe watch some of the most fabulous dancing one can imagine. While the show "Crazy For You" opened on Broadway in 1992, there was a previous rendition, "Girl Crazy" that goes back to the 1930's (so one can see the history)."

"...Talented, thoughtful Matt Crowle has directed and choreographed his production with so much sparkling creativity, inventiveness and care. The result is simple perfection. This all-singing, all-dancing old-fashioned musical, filled with so many wonderful, familiar, toe-tapping hits from the Gershwin songbook, is smart, slick, side-splitting and as shiny and polished as a brand new silver dollar. At a time when we really need a laugh, and the chance to lose ourselves in a positive story of spirit and romance, here’s a peerless production guaranteed to tap your troubles away."

"...“Crazy for You” may be a featherweight concoction but the Gershwin score is Olympian and the choreography is delectable. It may not have the dramatic heft of a “Fun Home,” but it’s irresistible entertainment, with a core of sophistication and professionalism masking all the silliness. Counting the recently closed “Smokey Joe’s Café,” the theater can congratulate itself on presenting the two best musical stagings of the season back to back. Here’s an idea for Drury Lane. Bring back the show’s entire cast and artistic brain trust for a revival of “My One and Only.”"

"...Drury Lane's wonderful production begins with it magnificent leads. Alves and Hurder own the stage in every scene they participate. Their Broadway and national resumes predict uber-profesionalism, and this pair does not disappoint. Knockout vocals and lithe dance moves make them a stunning pair to watch."
