Description:

Synopsis: After missing another holiday season, Ana decides to retire early as an airline pilot to make up for lost time with her family. Determined to have one holiday where the whole family is together, Ana decides to host Thanksgiving dinner... in April. Her kids reluctantly oblige, but not without revealing there's a lot more than Thanksgiving dinners that she and her husband, Carlo, have been missing.

Details: Stuffing the Turkey (STT) is a Mixed-Form Storytelling production and will be filmed in and around the Chicagoland area and performed on stage at the Den Theatre in November 2017.

The auditions will take place at 205 W Wacker.

ROLES:

Carlo, 61 years old. A technologically impaired college professor who prefers to write with a typewriter because 'that's just how it's done.' This line of thinking has forced him to miss a couple of important life events in his family. When he finds out he is the last to know about the major developments in his children's lives, he doesn't quite know how to react.

Ana, 62: If anyone ever believed in her, she probably wouldn't have gotten anywhere. Ana became one of the few female pilots in the country after being told by her father that she could never do it. While this is how she met Carlo, it has also kept her away from her family throughout most of their childhood. Feeling guilty, Ana retires early and decides that she will cook all holiday dinners going forward. While Ana is a great pilot she is an awful cook and even though she is

Stephanie, 35. The best years of Stephanie's life were the three years before her siblings were born. While her mother was flying airplanes and her dad was teaching at the University she was given the task of taking care of Jeffery and Kat. While growing up Stephanie could do no wrong. She graduated Valedictorian, was the senior class president, and while in college she founded two organizations including, the "Student Preservation for Wild Monkeys," and the "Women Writers of the Future, Today"

Jeffery, 29. The only male out of the four children and even though he is now an adult and successful doctor he still seeks everyone's approval. After having several relationships end in complete misery he has decided to never tell his family about another one until he is sure. When Ana forces everyone to come home for Guiltsgiving his current boyfriend Charlie finds out and Jeffery, after too much thought, invites him along for dinner. As he drives closer to his childhood home Jeffery not only worries if he is sure that Charlie is the one, but he also worries about what his family will think of Charlie and what Charlie will think of them. ​​

Charlie, 29. A dentist. Jeffrey's latest relationship is offended when he finds out that Jeffery hasn't told his family about him and is convinced it is because Jeffery hasn't come out to them. Charlie loves Jeffery so much that while appalled he is willing to "act straight" to force Jeffery to come out to his family. Not knowing that Jeffery's family has known and accepted him since he was a teenager.

Maria, 78: has prayed for her death for 15 years since her husband's death. But she figures that if she must be a live she might as well make the rest of the family miserable. She has two children. The oldest Paulo moved to England when the doctor told Maria that it wasn't wise for her to travel anymore. The other son Carlo has a family and can't flee the country.
