Description:

Entertainment Buffet is seeking actors age 20-75 of all ethnicities to audition for its new play, "How Does That Make You Feel?"

The play is built around a therapist and his patients, some of whom visit one evening in plans to have one final session with him. They throw a big raging party, like it's their last night on earth, because in the morning, they plan to all take their own lives. Shenanigans and antics ensue in this farcical absurd dark comedy, which takes inspirations from films such as Clue, Death At A Funeral, and In Bruges.

Auditions will be held at The Annoyance Theater & Bar Studio B 851 W Belmont Ave Chicago, IL 60657

Character descriptions:
Jerry- LEAD ROLE, Male, All Ethnicities, late 30's - early 50's
Intelligent, insightful, and bold therapist bogged down by his own personal demons. The combination of alcoholism, sleep deprivation, and this insane party, leaves him to completely unravel during the course of the play.

Rusty - LEAD ROLE, Male, Ethnically Ambiguous, 20's-30's
Rusty hosts the party in Jerry's office. He has had a sheltered upbringing, never hearing no, resulting in no filter and oblivious to social norms. Filter of a 6th grader.

Chloe- LEAD ROLE, Female, Ethnically Ambiguous, 20's-30's
Never afraid to speak her dirty raunchy mind. Suffers from depression and an extreme sex addiction. She pushes people away to test if they care only to be disappointed from being alone. Thrill-seeker who can't grasp her own emotions.

Genevieve- SUPPORTING, Female, White, 20's-30's
Never lacked talent but lacked the drive to push herself. Has a sharp tongue and quick wit. Feels inferior to her identical twin sister who she walked in on having an affair with her husband.

Archibald- SUPPORTING Male, African-American, 20's-30's
Wears his heart on his sleeve almost caring to a fault. Recently sober after having a bad addiction to various drugs such as cocaine, heroin etc. Can't find his own identity because he never really had one.

Mel - MINOR, Male, White, 50's-60's
Courteous and gracious to everyone he meets. A proud father and grandfather who is hiding a dark secret from everyone he loves trying to protect them. Old fashioned man with old fashioned manners.

Nia - MINOR, Female, African-American/Hispanic, 40's-60's
Warm and caring mother of three sons. She is driven and a career woman who despite her career dreams being unfulfilled, she has excelled and doesn't like to be handed anything.

Zara- CAMEO, Female, Ethnically Ambiguous, 30's-50's
Highly intelligent and often is considered wise beyond her years. Often level headed with her patients, but not afraid to give hard love and brutal honesty.

Time Commitment:

Tentative rehearsal schedule: Sunday, July 9-August 9
Tentative rehearsals will be Mon/Tues/Wed from 7-10pm, and Sunday mornings/afternoons.
Rehearsal schedule will be determined upon casting.
Proposed performances will be August 12th through August 27th, Wed, Thur, and Sun, location TBD.

Material To Prepare:

Actors should prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues 30-60 seconds in length.
We are searching for comedians with great dramatic skills, and dramatists with excellent comedic timing.
Expect to perform one monologue and have other available upon request.
