Towle Theater seeks strong male & female actors/singers for its upcoming Midwest Premiere of the musical Standby by Mark-Eugene Garcia, Alfred Solis, Amy Baer and Keith Robinson.

Five strangers meet in what seems to be an empty airport terminal in a standby line. They are directed that they must decide among themselves who deserves to get on the next flight. They soon realize that this is no ordinary airport and their meeting is by no means a coincidence. With a driving pop-rock score, this musical reminds us how interconnected we are with so many others.

Character Descriptions:
ANDREW: 18-­21 year old Male. A talented, honest, witty yet troubled teen hiding his homosexuality from a conservative family and peers that don't accept him; tenor/high, tenor belt, rock/pop, lyrical.

SAMANTHA: 18-­24 year old Female. A brokenhearted college student whose family is recently deceased, Bohemian, sensitive, playful; Mezzo-­soprano/Soprano, lyrical.

CYNTHIA: 25-­32 year old Female. Chooses to be with Jonathan in spite of her family's wishes, entitled, high-class, fiery, emotional, and impulsive; Mezzo-soprano belt, rock/pop.

JONATHAN: 25-­32 year old Male. In love with Cynthia; a recently discharged Marine struggling with PTSD, rough exterior, but sensitive, passionate; tenor, rock/pop and lyrical.

PETER: 25-­40 year old Male. Runs the information desk, check-­in, security and gate in the terminal; at one moment he is soothing and the next he is terrifying; inventive and overworked; dynamic, hip, intense; bari-­tenor, epic funk, R&B, soul, with classical undertones.

Audition Date: Saturday, April 22 from 10:30am-3:30pm
Audition Location: Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont, Chicago, IL 60657. South side of Belmont, between Lakewood and Racine. Located just a few blocks west of the Belmont Red/Brown/Purple stop also accessible via the #77 Belmont bus.
