Gorilla Tango Originals is seeking actors and dancers for Alegrķas Y Lagrimas (Happiness and Tears) written by Judy Veramendi, with music by Gerald H Bailey, and lyrics by Ruth Freer. Alegrķas Y Lagrimas (Happiness and Tears) is based on real life stories of immigrants and refugees. The stories are intertwined with dances and music from countries such as Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Cuba, and Honduras, as well as original composed music. Gorilla Tango Theatre is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

We are casting 3 female, 2 male actors to portray the following characters:
Ana Maria and Sergio (Chilean), around 30 years old.
Cesar (Peruvian male) and Pili (Mexican female), around 25 years old.
Juan (Mexican male) around 30 years old.
Mercedes (Mexican female) around 25-30 years old.
Hemel (Colombian male) around 40 years old.
Luis (Cuban male) around 40 years old.
Cecilia (Mexican female) around 35 years old.
Rosa (Guatemalan female) around 25 years old.
Carmen (Honduran female) around 25 years old.
Danny (Mexican male) 25-30 years old.
Marķa (Mexican female) around 40 years old
. Marķa Luna (Mexican female) around 25 years old.
Martina (Mexican female) around 35-40 years old.
Cirilo (Mexican male) around 40 years old.
In addition to the speaking/singing roles, we also will be casting a group of dancers capable of performing native dances from the above-named countries.

Time Commitment:

Rehearsals start week of March 27th (schedule is based on cast and crew availability). Performances are Sundays at 6pm: May 7-June 25.

Material To Prepare:

Please prepare a one-minute monologue and 16 bars of a song you are able to sing a cappella.
