Pride Films and Plays holds auditions for the world premiere of Gina Femia's "For the Love Of (or, the Roller Derby Play)" directed by Rachel Edwards Harvith.

Synopsis: When Joy gets on the Brooklyn Scallywags and meets the star, Lizzie Lightning, she and her long term partner Michelle find their lives turned upside down. "For the Love Of" asks how much you're willing to sacrifice - or lose - in order to follow your heart.

Seeking submissions from female-identified actors for the following roles:
Joy Ride: Late 20s, Black
Lizzie Lightning: Early 30s, Latina
Andrea the Vigilante: Mid-late 30s, Open Ethnicity
Anna-Stecia: Late 30s/Early 40s, Black
Hot Flash: Early 50s, White
Diaz de los Muertos: Mid-late 20s, Latina
Prosecute-Her: Early 20s, Asian

Not seeking submissions for the following roles: Michelle Squeaky Mouse Please note: Actors are not on skates at any point through the play; moments of skating are represented by dance. Dance/movement skills are a plus, but not a requirement. Some scenes take place in a locker room in which women change clothing; actors may be asked to appear in their underwear.

Time Commitment:

First rehearsal: February 6, 2017. Rehearsals will be held Sunday-Thursday evenings at either Pride Films and Plays' rehearsal space in Uptown or at Pride Arts Center in Buena Park. Performances are March 16 - April 23, 2017 at the Buena Theatre at Pride Arts Center.
Previews: March 16 - 19, 2017
Opening: March 20, 2017
Regular Run (Thurs-Sun): March 23 - April 16, 2017
Industry Performance: April 12, 2017
Possible Extension: April 20 - 23, 2017
