February-March 2017 production of Transit of Venus by Maureen Hunter. About the play: Le Gentil puts off marrying the young and willful Celeste as he travels around the world in his attempts to plot the course of Venus across the sky, only to be undone at every turn by weather, war and misfortune and to find, upon his return, a woman ruined by his absence and ready to set her own course. Spanning 11 years in the lives of Le Gentil and Celeste, Hunter's play explores issues of faith, solitude, and the human spirit.

We seek actors OF ALL ETHNIC BACKGROUNDS to fill the following roles (the ages listed are the characters' ages at the beginning of the play, which takes place during a period of 10 years):

LE GENTIL: 30s - French astronomer

DEMARAIS: Early 20s - Le Gentil's assistant

MARGOT: 30s - Celeste's mother, Le Gentil's housekeeper and companion to Mme. Sylvie

CELESTE: Late teens, early 20s - Fiancee to Le Gentil

MME SYLVIE: 60s, Le Gentil's mother

Auditions will be held at at St. Bonaventure, 1625 W. Diversey, Chicago.(Walk thru the parking lot east of the church and down the 5 stairs through the double doors.)
