A Christmas Story- The Musical - Adult Auditions

Pay: Stipend

Description:

Citadel Theatre announces non-Equity auditions for adult roles for its holiday production, "A Christmas Story, The Musical," directed by Robert D. Estrin, musical direction by Gina Lyden Masland, and choreography by Jennifer Cupani.

ROLES:
MEN:
- The Old Man: mid-30s to early 40s, the patriarch of the Parker clan, often gruff, devoted to his family, easily excitable.

- Santa: 30s to early 60s, ill-tempered, definitely not your warm and fuzzy Santa, also in the ensemble.

- Ensemble (3): various parts.

- Understudy: chosen from the male ensemble.

WOMEN:
- Mother: mid-30s to early 40s, the matriarch of the Parker clan, warm, loving, the person who keeps the household running, devoted to her family, practical.

- Miss Shields: mid-30s to mid-50s, typical 1940 educator, prim, proper, dedicated to her students, a force to be reckoned with, a vamp underneath that prim and proper exterior, also in the ensemble.

NOTE: MUST be able to tap. Miss Shields performs the number "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out" with the children. This is the musical's show-stopping number, pure show-biz glamour and pizzazz. Check out the clip on YouTube.

- Ensemble (3): various parts.
- Understudy: chosen from the female ensemble.

PLEASE NOTE: The part of Jean Shepherd/Narrator will be played by a member of Actor's Equity, audition date TBD. We're sorry, but Citadel Theatre cannot offer EMC credit at this time.

Auditions will be held at 300 S Waukegan Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045.
