Prop theatre is looking to fill a few roles for Oracle of the GutterPunks, a new political satire in the style of Mel Brooks, which will open in late September or early October. Rehearsals begin in July and August Seeking actors of all ethnicities, gender and orientation Powerful right-wing Senator Woodrow Gatemouth continually denies rumors of a secret gay lifestyle and is in the process of grooming his son, Johnny, who recently returned from the war in Iraq, for a future in politics. Democratic nemesis Harry Neuter-Fine is plotting his own return to the Senate but is dogged by his own dalliances with the ladies, which he struggles to keep under wraps. His family, like Senator Gatemouth's, could safely be called dysfunctional. Both candidates fight off a relentless press corps and the insidious reach of social media as they plot and scheme and deal with disillusioned wives and their chemically imbalanced teenage children. Songs are abundant in this highly irreverent musical which casts a jaundiced eye at politics.
