Description:

What do you do when nothing in your life is going right? Have a dinner party, of course. On the cusp of leaving their thirties and entering middle age, Jane and her old college pals could use some laughs. But when the reminiscing reveals secrets, and among friendships she finds adultery, Jane must come to terms with the people thought she loved and the woman she thought she knew. In order to become whole again, Jane finds herself asking what this is all about. JANE - 38, Caucasian female. Recently widowed, and still suffering. She is insecure in her motherhood, and is a little flaky and disconnected. Though she is clearly wounded, there is a dim light that burns to remind people how enigmatic she used to be; that light is what makes people fall in love with her.

TOM - early 40s, Caucasian male. Trapped in his unhappy marriage with MARRELL. They are bound by their newborn baby, but TOM quickly realizes that is not enough, and pursues an affair outside of his marriage. Passive and sometimes selfish, but still likeable.

MARRELL - 38, African-American female. The other half of this unhappy marriage. Neurotic in her attempts to be maternal and practical. Has a great deal of love for her friends - Jane in particular - and her child, so much so that she has no more left for TOM. She has built up resentment towards him and expresses herself passive aggressively. The kind of person that has the power to change the room's mood, for better or worse. Jazz singer - actor must be able to sing.

ALAN - 40, Jewish male. Quick-witted and sharp, sarcastic and self-deprecating, ALAN is the gay best friend of the group, without being the stereotypical "gay best friend." By not being romantically involved with any other character, he offers an outside perspective that we don't get elsewhere. Must be able to learn basic Hebrew.

JEAN PIERRE - late thirties, French male, Suave and confident. Every woman's French male fantasy: A part of Doctor's Without Boarders, attractive, successful, good conversationalist, albeit a tad oblivious to the tension of a room. Easily annoyed (especially by ALAN), and just as easily turned on. By anyone. Must have French dialect and be able to pick up basic French.
