The Love Talker is an eerie and sensual play - set in an age when strange spirits walked the earth and magic was all around...Sisters Bun and Gowdie live alone in a house surrounded by dark and mysterious woods. One day, when she was supposed to have been out harvesting potatoes, the adolescent Gowdie falls under the charms of the lustful spirit, the Love Talker, and a companion spirit, The Red Head. The Love Talker was first produced at the Actor's Theatre of Louisville's Humana Festival.
SEEKING
Bun (F): The older sister/ Early to late twenties/ She is maternal at times but also a young girl herself/ Strong-willed/ A bit suppressed/ Has a core moral-compass that drives her actions
Gowdie (F): The young sister/ Should look like she might be a teenager/ Sort of a tomboy / Very passionate/ Stubborn/ Drawn to danger and the unknown/ Exploring her sexual awakening for the first time
The Red Head (F): Age is difficult to tell (she may look childish one moment or weathered/ older the next)/ Compelling to look at but not pretty/ Not quite human/ A trapped trickster
The role of The Love Talker has been cast.
Auditions will be held the evening of Tuesday, August 11th. Callbacks, if necessary, will take place on the evening of Wednesday, August 12th.
Rehearsals begin August 31st and will be scheduled three-five nights a week, though not all actors will be called to all rehearsals. Performances run Thursday's and Fridays at 8pm October 15th- October 30th(6 performances). $100 stipend provided.
If selected, you will be emailed an audition time slot and details of the audition location. Please prepare a contemporary monologue under 2 minutes. Those who sing, please also prepare 16 bars of a folk song to be sung acapella. Auditioners should also be prepared to read from sides provided in the audition invitation email though all may not be asked to read. Please bring your availability/conflicts with you along with your headshot and resume.
