Description:

Nothing Special Productions (NSP) is pleased as punch to announce auditions for our upcoming Fall Production Nightmare in Paradise 4: A Spooktacular Musical Extravaganza Adapted from the First Folio by Brian Rohde by Brian Rohde.

NiP4 is a wacky musical following the travels of six partying vacationers traveling to mysterious Tierra del Fuego, where they run into the King of the Nightmare World "The Bellhop" and his underlings Lonnie the Midgetaur (world-famous monster contractor slash musical performance extraordinaire), and Christopher and Leonard, two "weird flying things" who complicate the plot irrevocably. Yeah, things get silly.

The following roles are available:
SIMON - Seems to be the protagonist. Loves his girlfriend, Katie.

KATIE - Heavy Recreational Marijuana user. Loves her boyfriend, Simon.

SIMON P. - Katie's college roommate who clearly has a thing for Katie.

MEGAN - Katie's best friend and self-proclaimed feminist warrior.

KEANU - Simon's childhood best friend. Loves a good party. Or a bad one. He just loves to party.

CHRISTOPHER - Low-level minion of the Bellhop (King of the Nightmare World). Not the brightest bulb in the box. He is a puppet.

LEONARD - Christopher's slightly dimmer partner in mischief. Also a puppet.

NIGHTMARE CHORUS 1 & 2 - These two omniscient characters act as narrators, stage hands, and whatever else necessary to keep the play from going off track.

All roles are ethnically non-specific, and the roles of Christopher, Leonard, and Nightmare Chorus are gender non-specific. We are welcoming all types.

Time Commitment:

Rehearsals begin Aug 30, and will run Sunday-Wednesday 7-10:30pm. Tech: Oct. 4, 6-8, 7-11pm. Previews: Oct. 9-11. Press Opening: Oct. 12. Runs Thursday-Saturday at 7:30, Sunday at 3pm. Closes Oct. 31. The play will be performed at Heartland Studio in Rogers Park.

Material To Prepare:

16 bars of a song from the musical theater canon. Or whatever you like. We're not too picky. We are mostly looking for a song selection that shows off your personality. Auditionees will be asked to sing a capella, or to accompany yourself on an instrument or some kind of music playing machine. We will also have you read sides from the script, which will be provided upon confirmation of your audition. If you can play a musical instrument, please let us know.
