Dirty Girl - A workshop production to be performed as part of Underscore's Chicago Musical Theatre Festival.

Audition Time
Monday, May 4th
6-10pm - 1 hour slots
POSSIBLE DANCE CALLBACK: 9pm

Directed and Choreographed by Jamal Howard with Musical Direction by Charlotte Rivard-Hoster. This original full-length musical, written by Anthony Whitaker, will perform as a part of Underscore's Chicago Musical Theatre Festival at The Den Theatre in July.

Set in a fictional Georgia trailer park in 1987, Dirty Girl is a musical comedy following a girl who wishes she could go to the prom, when her fairy god cousin (by marriage) appears and gives her the 80s prom of her dreams. Faced with the popular jock, the nerd, and the popular cheerleaders, she quickly learns that the real world can be better than fairytales.

NOTE ON CASTING: Specifically seeking DIVERSE Musical Comedy Performers with BIG personalities. ALL TYPES! Open roles are predominantly FEMALE, however, some roles may be played in Drag.

Character Breakdown

JENNIFER: The Cinderella of our story (This role is cast)

VIVIAN: Jennifer's Step-Aunt, a woman of fitness and diet...sort of.

TAMMY: Jennifer's Step-Cousin. Perfect bangs are her goal in life. She and TAMI used to be identical twins until one of them got held back a year in school.

TAMMI: Jennifer's Step-Cousin. TAMMY's twin sister. Would like to date a football player or corporate embezzler or something. (This role is cast)

PEGGY: Jennifer's Best Friend. A New Wave Punk Chick.

LINDA: Jennifer's Fairy God Cousin...by marriage.

DIETRA: The School President of Everything. The Girl with the clipboard.

TROY/RANDY: This play has TWO Princes. Troy is a total 80's Nerd. Randy is a total 80's Jock. Traditionally played by one actor. (This role is cast)

CHEERLEADERS: Your typical group of 80's high school popular girls and/or boys. Must be able to move/sing well. Cheerleading experience is appreciated but not required.

Time Commitment:

Rehearsals will begin the week of May 25th. Tech Week: June 24th - 30th. FIVE Performances during the Festival (July 5th - 19th).

Material To Prepare:

We will provide SIDES prior to your Audition. We will teach you a song from the show with your timeslot's group and then ask you to sing. You will read in groups. Bring an updated H/R.
