Description:

Mercy Street Theatre Company is holding auditions for our upcoming world premiere production of Rotpeter.

Rotpeter ("Red Peter"), the world-renowned entertainer and former ape, has been commissioned to give a report. He's been a scientific and theological marvel since his first words. And in the years since, he has rapidly developed the cultural intelligence of the Average European. Now, for the very first time, Rotpeter will give a first-hand account of his early life, his transition, and his motives. From the jungles of the Gold Coast to a cage on a Hagenbeck steamer to the variety stages of the civilized world, this [man's] journey is not to be missed. For Mercy Street's production of Rotpeter, actors will help to devise and develop Kafka's bite-sized fable for the stage with director Jake Fruend and playwright Rachel DuBose.
