Description:

Monty Python's Spamalot, is the twisted telling of King Arthur and his quest for the Holy Grail. This parody of the Arthurian Legend is peppered with snappy tunes that made it a Broadway Hit. This show will perform at the Auditorium at Naperville Central High School, the weekends of July 10 - 19.

Character Breakdown:

King Arthur: Range (G3 to E5). The King of England who sets out on a quest to form the Knights of the Roundtable and find the Holy Grail. Great humor. Good singer.

Sir Robin: Range (C4 to E5). The cowardly member of the knighthood that joins for the singing and dancing.

Sir Lancelot: Range (C4 to E5). The fearless knight that, by the end, finds himself in love with Prince Herbert.

Patsy: Range (G3 to F5). King Arthur's horse and servant who feels underappreciated, yet longs for the King's approval. Good, funny, physical mover.

Sir Galahad: Range (Bb3 to Bb5). The mud-gatherer turned into the dashing knight. Strong singer.

Prince Herbert: Range (B3 to A5). The hopeful and frilly prince who loves to sing, and pines for his love atop a tower. Ends up falling in love with Sir Lancelot.

Lady of the Lake: Range (E3 to B5). A Diva. Strong, beautiful, possesses, mystical powers. The leading lady of the show. Great singing voice is essential, as she must be able to sing effortlessly in many styles.

Sir Bedevere: The inept scholar of the knighthood.

Ensemble: 6 Women and 6 Men (possibly more). Great comedic actors, singers, dancers.

Numerous Character Roles, Guards, Minstrels, Monks, Etc.

Auditions will be held at The Alfred E. Rubin Community Center; 305 W. Jackson; Naperville, IL

Material To Prepare:

Ages 16+. All ethnicities encouraged to audition. Prepare 32 bars from a Broadway show in a similar style, not from Spamelot, which best reflects your voice. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the proper key. There will be a dance portion, so have clothing that you can move in. Tap dancing skills are a plus. Be aware that callbacks will include cold readings from the script and may ask for British dialects.
