Description:

Chronicling the glorious adventures of 211 S. Neville, the house on the hill behind the Catholic boys' school, "The Party House" is a re-enactment / re-imagining of a year, recorded by hand painstakingly by one house scribe. In our story, we call her Odette. Shirtless O'Clock, Beer Showers, and waking up in the morning feelin like P. Diddy are resurrected through the collaborative efforts of 14 actors, the ghost of 17 notebooks, and the scattered memories of 1 director.

For the first round of Auditions, you will make a video. Choose one of the following prompts and write or improvise a monologue from that context. Record your performance at the monologue.
You may talk directly to the camera or use the camera as the eye of the casting director. If you've written your material, please be memorized.

Option #1

"Alexander"

Alexander responds to Odette's offer of 'fuck buddy status'.
She proposes that they have sex 2 to 4 times a week.
He turns her down on the grounds that he needs to spend his time in solitude, reading Milton and the greats in order to become one of them himself.
He may or may not have feelings for her.
This maybe just an excuse.
You decide.

Write a monologue in which Alexander responds to this offer.
The tone and the reasoning is completely up to you.

Option #2

"Margeaux"

Margeaux has just found out Dave has been telling all of their friends that he can smell her across the room.
True, Margeaux & Dave once hooked up and they've been friends forever, but he has absolutely no right to slut shame her.
Margeaux defends herself to Dave in front of all of their friends.
She may or may not succeed in getting through to him.
Side note: Many of their friends have at some point or another had sex with Margeaux, girls and boys.

Write a monologue in which Margeaux stands up for herself.
The tone and the reasoning in completely up to you.

Option #3

"Richard"

Richard is drunk at one of their parties. He is sitting near a guy who's playing the guitar for a cute girl.
Richard decides he is going to swoop in and steal the attention of this girl.
He loudly makes fun of guitar guy and all sensitive male artists, for that matter, to the cute girl as he tries to get her to go to the front porch with him.
The guitar guy tries to start something with him, but he gets away before things escalate.
He may or may not get the cute girl to leave with him.
(Note, Richard is 26. He's at least 4 years older than everybody at this party.)

Write a monologue in which Richard tries to win over this girl from the guitar guy.
The tone/reasoning & how this plays out is completely up to you.

Option #4

"Mary"

Mary has just had sex with Dave. He has asked her to leave his room, because he doesn't like sharing a bed with anyone while sleeping.
This is the first time they've ever had sex. In fact, this is the first time she's ever had sex.
Mary makes a case for why he should let her stay.
He ends up kicking her out of the room in the end.
She forgives him in the end, but something has changed between them.
What that something is is up to you.

Write a monologue in which Mary tries to get Dave to let her stay.
The tone/reasoning & how this plays out is completely up to you.

Option #5

"Dave"

Write a song Dave wrote for his Bluegrass Band, "Whiskey in the Linens"
Write a monologue in which Dave teaches the rest of the band this song.
The tone/reasoning & how this plays out is completely up to you.
