Wheaton Drama is pleased to announce auditions for its 2014-15 season closer, Monty Python's Spamalot - a raucous musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the motion picture "Monty Python and The Holy Grail." Seeking actors and actresses 18 or older.

The original production of Monty Python's Spamalot opened at Chicago's Shubert Theater on Jan. 9, 2005. After its successful Chicago run, Monty Python's Spamalot opened at New York City's Shubert Theater on March 17, 2005. That Broadway production won the Tony award for Best Musical and was nominated for 14 total Tonys.

Peter Lemongelli is directing. Assistant Director: Pam Turlow; Music Director: Amy Brockman; Choreographer: Katy Smith; Production Manager: Mike Boyna.

To best utilize everyone's time, auditions are by appointment only Sunday, March 29, and Monday, March 30 at Playhouse 111, located at 111 N. Hale St. in downtown Wheaton.

If necessary, additional auditions will be held Tuesday, March 31. Callbacks will be Wednesday, April 1.

Time Commitment:

Performances of Monty Python's Spamalot are May 22 through June 14, 2015. Shows are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8 PM, and Sundays at 3 PM. Tickets are $21 each, except Thursdays, which have a special $18 ticket price.

Material To Prepare:

1. Actors will be scheduled for Sunday, March 29 (7, 8 or 9 PM), or Monday, March 30 (8:30 or 9:30 PM).

2. Actors will be assigned to groups and will spend 20 minutes in singing auditions, 20 minutes in dancing auditions, and 20 minutes in reading auditions. Everyone who attends will get to read.

3. Reading: Details will be provided when your appointment is scheduled. Everyone will get to read.

4. Singing: Please prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of the show - not from the show. No a cappella singing allowed. Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.

5. Dancing: The show involves multiple styles of dance; please dress to move.

6. Further auditions, if needed, will be scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, and will follow the same format.

7. Callbacks will be Wednesday, April 1.

8. Actors who are cast will be called by noon on Thursday, April 2. Those not called back or cast will be contacted by email.
