We are currently casting for our 2015 season of:
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (musical)
Hairspray (musical)
The Sparrow (play by Chris Mathews, Jake Minton and Nathan Allen)
Seeking: Performers, male and female, all ethnicities (especially African American), 18+. Special consideration will be made for actors between the ages of 15-17 with parental permission.
Must have a professional work ethic and strong desire to work as a member of an ensemble. Must be ready to be challenged mentally and physically. Must be willing to shed preconceived notions and buy into new visions.
Auditions will be held at The Pendulum Space 1803 West Byron Street, Suite 216 Chicago, IL
Payment: All roles are paid. Payment is 25% of the full ticket price of your individual ticket sales for each production.
(Example: If you sell 20 tickets at $20, you will receive $100)
Performances: Madison Street Theatre, Oak Park
Rehearsals will be 2-3 days a week until tech.
Generally rehearsals are held 1-2 weekday evenings and 1-2 weekend afternoon/evenings.
A rehearsal calendar will be provided online at www.surgingfilms.com as well as at auditions.
Spelling Bee: Rehearsals begin March 14th. Tech week begins April 27th. Performances are 4/30-5/3.
Hairspray: Rehearsals begin the week of June 1st. Tech week begins July 20th. Performances are 7/23-7/26.
Sparrow: Rehearsals begin the week of August 17th. Tech week/performances TBA. Tentatively slated for 9/21.
1-minute contemporary monologue
32 bars of a song* of your choice from Spelling Bee or Hairspray. Accompanist will be provided.
*PLEASE NOTE: Song is NOT required if just auditioning for The Sparrow.
Be prepared to do cold readings, movement exercises, and improvisation.
Preparation should include becoming as familiar with each show as possible before your audition.
