Arched Brow Theatre Company is looking for male and female actors and puppeteers for a Chicago staged reading of Tenure Track: The Musical.
Tenure Track: The Musicalis the story of lowly adjunct, PS Latte. As she fights to win her place in academia--and even participates in an epic rap battle between literary theorists Roland Barthes and Harold Bloom--she is forced to question her career path, relationships, and hairdo. Will she stay true to her lofty ideals of liberal education or join ranks with her puppet peers in the pursuit of free iPads and dental insurance.
Actors needed:
Women - 18-60; Non-AEA; musical theatre experience or training
PS LATTE: adjunct professor of English; female, early 30s
ELIZABETH BETTY: a librarian; female, early 30s
HELENE BON MOT: PS's supervisor; female, 60; at the end of the play is represented as a puppet
SARAH SNOW: a college senior; female, 20
Men-18 to 60; Non-AEA; musical theatre experience or training
ALESSANDRO SPAGHETTIOS: PS's husband; male, early 30s
DEAN ART SNOW: male, early 50s
We are also looking for 2-3 actors with experience in puppetry. Please come prepared with voices, accents and characters
Rehearsals begin January 2015
TBA Schedule, but likely one day per week
Performances will be March 9 & 10 in the studio theatre of the Apollo Theatre
Please come prepared with 2 min comedic monologue and 16 bars of a song. Musical theatre/puppetry experience a plus.
