Fox Valley Repertory
Unnecessary Farce

Pay: Yes

Description:

Directed by Ronan Marra Playwright Smith sets the action in a cheap motel room where an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant, while in the adjoining room, two undercover cops wait to catch the meeting on videotape. Of course, confusion sets in as to who's in which room, who's being videotaped, who's taken the money, who's hired the hit man, and why the accountant keeps undressing. This fast-paced romp is full of mix-ups and mayhem, and it all adds up to loads of laughter.

Seeking:
Eric Sheridan (30s) A bookish, even-keeled guy who is completely out of his element when trying to express feelings for a woman, lie to his boss, disguise himself, and stand up to a mobster while not wearing any pants. Billie Dwyer (mid 20s -30s) A rookie police officer and Eric's partner. Excitable and non-threatening, she seems to lack ever skill necessary for police work, but is as eager to succeed as she seems destined to fail.

Karen Brown (30s to early 40s) An accountant who takes pride in her professional demeanor, until this morning when she's filled with a sexual hunger and is unable to keep in control. This character will at least partially undress and will be seen without her blouse.

Mayor Meekly (50s-70s) An innocent with a capital "i". He's an affable guy, not too quick on the up-take, and a sweet, sweet soul. Agent Frank (20s-50s) the head of security at City Hall, and the wrong man for the job! He presents a confident, gruff exterior, but in a crisis he's frightened by his own shadow.

Todd (20s-50s) A professional hit man who speaks with a pronounced Scottish accent. He's cool, quiet, and perceptive when at his best, but more frequently, he's an angry Scotsman. The angrier he becomes, the thicker his accent gets, until he is entirely indecipherable.

Mary Meekly (40s-70s) The mayor's wife who is small in stature and unfailingly sweet. She's the perfect match for her husband.

FYI- The perforamnce space is located about an hour and five minutes outside of Chicago.
