The Home for Wayward Artists
Titus Andronicus Project (Working Title)

Pay: Some Pay

Description:

Using one of Shakespeare's most notoriously violent and uneven plays, The Home for Wayward Artists is producing a fully immersive, devised piece based on the themes and characters of Titus Andronicus.

This project will be an intense, extended study of the multifaceted story and will include mask work, puppetry, clown and movement. We are looking for people comfortable with devised work and experimental storytelling; people who are interested in falling down the rabbit hole of developing material together.

Auditions will be held at the Cornelia Arts Center at 1800 West Cornelia Avenue, Chicago, IL 60657. Slots will be held in 10 MINUTE INCREMENTS FROM:

7:00PM - 10:00PM on the following days:
Monday 11/17, Wednesday 11/19, Thursday 11/20

CALLBACKS WILL BE:
Sunday 11/23 from 12:00PM - 5:00PM

Please read the following descriptions of characters below. You may bring a monologue (written by you or by another author) or a personal story to perform. Choose a piece that allows you to explore a specific character trait list [below]. These should mirror something innate in YOU: not what you think WE need or want to see from our cast. Please be prepared to chat with the auditors and associate artists and tell/perform another monologue/story based on a different character list. We are nice. Come to have fun.

YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO USE ANY CLASSIC OR HEIGHTENED TEXT. The production will be in modern prose.

Naive, Wide-Eyed, Mischievous, Flirtatious, Crass

Passionate, Reckless, Brave, Animalistic, Nothing-to-Lose

Lost, Longing, Alone, Empty, Poisonous

Pompous, Arrogant, Highly-Critical, Crass, Lecherous

The Home for Wayward Artists is a new collective concentrating on experimental and mixed media endeavors. We are a community working toward a common goal: to give light to new ideas that would otherwise die in darkness.
