Seeking 7 strong African American dramatic actors and singers.

Storyline:
It's all about Scrooge in this hilarious and heart -warming reconstruction of the classic Dickens tale experienced through an Afro-centric lens. A memory play that examines the life long struggle of Boss Scrooge from poverty to the upper class at the expense of his humanity. Spirited music, supernatural experiences and reconnection to family and friends rescue Scrooge form a life of self -hatred and loneliness.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS -

EBENEZER- 40-60, Male, African American, Plain Looking, Solid build, Good Stature. He is an unhappy wealthy man. Note for this role actor must be comfortable in his body and have strong physical and vocal dexterity. This role does not require a solo voice, but actor must be able to sing along with the cast.

CRATCHET- 35-45, Male African American, Singer, Faithful Husband, Dotting Father, Hardworking, Loving, Family Man, Underpaid, Poor. He is trapped in dead-end job and every decision he makes has consequences for those he loves. This actor may double as MARLEY (possible) Vocal Range.

TINY TIM or TINA- 10-13, African American, Male or Female, Singer, Bright, Upbeat, Articulate, Wheelchair bound. He/she fights to stay positive despite his economic environment compounded with bullying and gang harassment in school. Actor should be able to sing well. Director will consider older actor who can play a teen believably.

MRS. CRACHET - 30-40, Female, African American, Spirited Singer, Positive, Loves Life. She is the childhood sweetheart of Mr. Cratchet and the heart of the family. This actor will double as CHRISTMAS PAST.

BELINDA/MARTHA - 16-20, Female, African American, Strong Singers. This actor must be an excellent character actor and will doubles as: SHOPKEEPERS, FRAN, BELLE, & FRED'S PARTY GUEST.

FRED - 25-30, Male, African American, Singer, Gregarious, Hopeful, Supportive, Humanitarian. He and his wife are committed to helping the less fortunate. Base Baritone preferred. This actor will double as: THE VOICE OF FEZZIWIG, CHRISTMAS PRESENT, SHOPKEEPER & MARLEY (possible).

IDA- 25-30, Female, African American, Strong Singer . This actor must be an excellent character actor and will double as: SHOPKEEPER, CHRISTMAS PAST & CHRISTMAS FUTURE.

Material To Prepare:

Prepare 2 contrasting monologues comedic and dramatic 90 second each. Prepare 16 Bars 2 contrasting musical selections from the following list: Silent Night & Joy to The World or O Holy Night and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Please bring 2 current headshots and resumes.
