Norma & the Maniac

Pay: Stipend

Description:

Norma & the Maniac is a new play by Ray Nelson that will be produced in late September as part of the Waukegan Theatre Festival with 3 Brothers Theatre. This is an off-book, workshop production with minimal design elements with plans to produce a longer run in the city in 2015. We are seeking the following types:

- Norma: Female, early 40's. Worn out from being her mother's caretaker.

- Lewis "The Maniac": Male, early-to-mid 20's. Singer in a Heavy Metal Band. Seeking actors with facial hair and/or longer hair. Piercings/tattoos a plus.

We highly encourage all types to submit, as there are no specific race/body requirements.

Synopsis: Norma sneaks away to an abandoned warehouse to practice her tuba, her only joy in life. Her practicing is ruined when The Maniac, a singer in a Chicago death metal band, breaks into the warehouse to psych himself up for his show. After preventing him from committing suicide and feeling trapped by caring for her disabled mother, Norma decides to go with The Maniac on a road-trip to see the ocean. Norma and the Maniac explores the way we run away from the problems that keep us from ever finding happiness.

Pay: Small stipend will be provided as well as all transportation to/from Waukegan.

Auditions are on Thursday July 24th from 7-10pm at Ebenezer Lutheran Church at 1650 W. Foster Ave.
