In a nutshell: The Hamlet Project is a less than two hour, drinking game version of Shakespeare's Hamlet. The project was started in LA by Beth Lopes and Jesse Sharps and has expanded to Chicago where it has produced four rounds so far.
We are looking for performers who are comfortable working with Shakespeare, but who aren't afraid to have a lot of fun with it. While it is probably the funniest production of Hamlet you will ever see, we are also very dedicated to telling the story and building a rich world around the play. Each Round of The Hamlet Project introduces a new configuration of the cast, with a new person playing Hamlet each time. We work on an expedited rehearsal process and generally perform each round 3-4 times.
To be eligible for casting you must have seen the project at least once. Round 4 begins Friday, March 28th and runs until April 5th at The Lincoln Loft. Dates: Upcoming rounds. Currently we are planning a round for the Summer as well as a round for the fall. We are not casting for a specific round out of this audition, but rather looking for people to join our ensemble of actors who appear in The Hamlet Project: Chicago regularly.
The location of that audition is TBD in Chicago and will be sent along to the auditioner once they sign up.
One prepared Shakespearean monologue, performed in a contemporary fashion. You will be given sides from the script closer to the audition date. You will be reading with current ensemble members of the project.
