A Behanding in Spokane Reviews

"...But no one is brave in this tale - including the playwright, who seems to have knocked this script off in between writing superior screenplays, such as 2008's "In Bruges." Wisely, Borer treats the characters as the contrived freaks that they are and just lets the pseudo-noir, semi-Grand Guignol gags land where they may, within feet of the audience and at warp speed. Fullen in particular impresses as the gangly but malevolent Mervyn - I'd love to see him in a stronger show soon."

"...Jimmy Pennington is a seething mama's boy as Carmichael, a man who has been searching for his missing hand for decades and hopes that the couple he’s just met has the correct appendage in their brown paper bag. And Caleb Fullen makes an unrivaled theatrical debut as Mervyn, a hotel clerk with a thirst for some adventure beyond listening in on outside calls. His wonderfully weird body language and offbeat observations, particularly a monologue about zoos, steal the show. Elise Spoerlein and John Thibodeaux, as hand peddlers Marilyn and Toby, however, don’t feel as at home in the skin of their characters and fall victim to flat dialogue."
